Long-distance move from Navarro, CA to South Plainfield, NJ

The team was incredibly efficient!

I was impressed with how communicative the company was throughout the entire process. The team was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely thorough in their work. They kept me informed every step of the way and made sure that I felt comfortable with the entire process.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Missouri

The move that never happened

I called and scheduled a move from Pennsylvania to Missouri on May 21st for June 18th, and of course was promptly charged my deposit fee of $1202.83. The day before (June 17th), I got a call with a time for the next day and everything was going great. Then, one hour before they were supposed to be here….yes, literally ONE HOUR, they called and canceled ans tried to bump me another week. I had told them I was really disappointed and was going to try to find another company, which I did. By Saturday, I remembered that the refund that I had requested could not be completed on my end because my debit card had been locked out earlier in the week from my bank because it had been compromised, so I called and lefty message with “Patrick” that I had been dealing with earlier in the week. He called me back Saturday, demanding that I tell him who the other company was that was moving me, stating that there’s NO WAY I’m ever going to see a dime of my money and that he was the only one on this earth who could help me. He then proceeded to say that I had called him a racial slur, and then called me a bunch of racial slurs, asked me how many trailers I had lived in, proceeded to brag about himself having a Lamborghini, and further state that I’ll “never see one cent of that money”. Now, whenever you call either one of Express’ numbers, one conveniently has a full mailbox (866-295-7772), and the other one just gives an automated odd message saying that “the number cannot be reached” (360-208-9658). Worst company I have ever dealt with. If zero stars were an option, I would have given that.

Official company response

This review doesn't make any sense - Mr. Scott canceled his move and received a full refund from us. There's literally nothing else to the story on our end, but we do know he booked with 4 different moving companies for this move, which is why he had to cancel with us and a couple of other companies too. He did mention a similar story to the one written here when he canceled with us, but about one of the other companies he mistakenly double or triple booked with that he was trying to get a refund from. So this is a case of mistaken identity, it's really the only possibility we can come up with. When you're moving things are stressful and confusing, which causes things like this to happen and we get it, no big deal. We hope you love Missouri and that Missouri loves you! Congrats on the move!

^^This response from the company to my initial review is bogus. The only reason why I did receive a full refund is because I went through my bank, because I could never get a hold of anyone there, when I called their 2 separate phone numbers dozens of times and had sent countless emails, I never got a response. Conveniently, their voicemail boxes were always full and you could leave no message on top of that.

The only reason I booked with “so many different moving companies” is because they all did the same thing you guys did: collect a deposit immediately, promised a time and date to show up, and then left me hanging literally at the 11th hour after they bailed. Get your story straight if you’re going to write it down - I never canceled with you because I had other moving companies booked. I canceled with you because you didn’t show up when you said you were going to, so obviously I had to try to call someone else. My apartment was already promised to someone by the end of the month, which left me a short window after you guys bailed.

Glad to see you never mentioned Patrick’s antics, either. I hope, for a lot of other peoples sakes, that he’s been removed from the company by now.

Reasonable Movers!

The team did a quick, affordable and smooth move for me. This was my second time with them, and the experience was just as great as the first. The guys were super nice and very explicit about the charges - I have a very large mirror that they wrapped and boxed for me, and they told me that I could risk it or they could pack it for an additional fee.

Scammers run as fast as you can

In the middle of a lawsuit with this horrible company. Long story short I was hardcore scammed by this company. Do not hire them!! I saw these good reviews and that’s why I did but they all must be shams because they were a nightmare. Theyll push you to sign and pay a deposit but their estimate means nothing. They’ll tell you the carrier they use is great (move us inc) and send you a fraud company instead. (Radius moving) doubled the estimate and wouldn’t give me my stuff back until I paid it. Hoping to take this company down but until that happens do not be like me. All of my precious belongings were destroyed. Run!

Long-distance move from Tucson, AZ to Hailey, ID

A Bad Experience

My initial interaction was good. But when I submitted a list of a few additional items (suitcases, skis, coat rack, NO major pieces of furniture) the price of the move increased by 250% from $5,000 to $11,000. This was done via a phone call and Express Movers was unable to provide any detail in writing as to why the price increased, so I cancelled the contract. Express Movers became unresponsive at this point.

When I disputed the charge they did provide the detail in writing. It looks like the issue came down to them counting my boxes twice in the second estimate. Express Moving is trying to keep my deposit of $1,500 even though the mistake was made by them and they were unable to provide reasonable written details in a timely manner.

If you would like more information feel free to reach out to me. I strongly recommend finding a different option for your move.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $11000

Official company response

We went back and forth with this customer for nearly four months after her cancellation explaining everything in writing to her with great detail in our answers to her questions. She made many additions/changes to her inventory (not just a few small items) and this caused the required space to increase, causing a price increase. She was given the option to keep her original price and space reservation and work with the foreman on moving day should she require a new space reservation, which Maureen did not believe she would. Ultimately she declined this option and cancelled her move. If anyone would like the 20+ pages of correspondence we have we will happily provide it to refute her claims. There was no price increase finalized and we feel this review is very misleading on her part because of that. Had she simply kept the move as originally reserved we are certain the outcome would have been satisfactory for all parties involved.

We hope you are enjoying Idaho and that everything went well with the move in whatever way you managed to complete it!

Long-distance move from Virginia to Texas

Terrible!!! Don’t believe the fake reviews!!!

Avoid express!!! They gave me a quote of 1900 and it ended up being 3510 for a one bedroom. My stuff is 2 weeks late and I have called several times and no one can tell me where my things are. Scott hung up on me and said he doesn’t have a gps so he doesn’t kno where my stuff is. The owner [NAME EDIT] doesn’t kno anything either. Trust me the 5 star reviews are fake!!! The real reviews are the people that are giving specifics. They use radius moving and they are a scam!! Trust me don’t believe the good reviews!!!! I have worked in the logistics business so I am going to make sure all my contacts kno they are horrible and I am going to do a YouTube video about my experience!! I am also going to make sure I leave a google review

I guess you didn’t think I am going to respond to your response to my review of your horrible organization. Please let me be clear just because your response was long and detailed doesn’t mean it was the truth. Express consulting reached out to me and didn’t give me ALL the information needed to make the best decision for my move. You stated I didn’t complete a follow up review. That isn’t correct. I submitted a follow up review of inventory on email because I requested a change in date to for the pick up. Your personnel was incompetent because y’all called me on to pick up my stuff and I told you the date was changed and you apologized to me saying that the guy who was supposed to get the email didn’t do his job and that you would make the necessary changes. So don’t come on this review not telling the truth. I was told that boxes would be supplied for me but wasn’t told they would be an extra charge. You stated I didn’t argue about the extra charges. Of course I didn’t. Who would when your expect yo leave your apartment that day and no time to look for an alternative. Don’t make it seem like I was ok with what was going on. I had no choice but to accept because I had to be out of my place that day. Also I asked the guy who was asking my things before he even started how much was this going to be. I asked several times before he started packing and he kept saying I won’t kno until I’m done but I will get you a good discount. I had 2 others ladies with me on that to vouch for this. They to were suspicious about how he couldn’t give me a price. I even asked for an estimate before he packed my things and he kept saying he didn’t kno.

So let me address where I said you didn’t kno where my things were. I called y’all on July 1st because I was told to put the date on the contract when I would be ready for my things to be delivered and that it would be delivered within a few days for when I would call to let them kno I was ready for delivery. You didn’t hear from me from pick up June 5th till July 1st cause I had already told your guys I didn’t need my things until on or after July 1st. I called day after day from July 1 st until the day I wrote my review July 15th asking when I would get my things. I spoke to [NAME EDIT] several times and he keep giving me the run around and then I began to ask do you even kno where my things are and have they been even pick up and in route and he kept giving me the run around. So please don’t lie. If your office didn’t know what was going on it was because Scott wasn’t telling you what was going on. Now here is where you are straight up liers. You said I didn’t contact you about a move in date and place a secured delivery and I needed to complete a form and y’all told me this and received my delivery the same day????? Such a lie!!! I never signed any additional paperwork other than the paperwork I signed on the pick up June 5th and on my delivery date which was August 25th. I have several emails with Scott asking what is going on with my things. [NAME EDIT] avoided me for weeks and I finally got an answer saying read my BOL saying they had 30 business days from the day I put that I was available for delivery (July 1st) for them to deliver my stuff before they have to pay a penalty. So I have the emails to prove that I had been inquiring about my things and I had been getting the run around only to be told that basically we don’t have to deliver until 30 business days. Another lie you said Mr [NAME EDIT] refunded me for my inconvenience? Lies!!!!! He refunded me because I told him I was promised my things a few days after July 1st and like I stated before he didn’t know anything about what going on cause that what he told me!! He called me back later to tell me that things where delayed and that I would have my things by the end of that week and he venmo me 150 for his company not up holding to there word. This delivery form y’all keep talking about doesn’t even exist. I was in constant communication about when I needed my things. I called the owner [NAME EDIT] several times after not receiving my things and he stopped answering my calls. I called him several times and left several messages and he never called me back. I had to get into contact with Radius to find out what was going on with my things.

As I stated before Express Moving are the worst to deal with. They are only consultants. The aren’t a moving company. They are the middle man. As they did me they will you in with a very undercharged rate and inflate the price when you are vulnerable. They will not explain to you the entire process and will take advantage of it. They have no control after your things are picked up. Never go to express moving or a company like them. When I finally spoke to radius moving ( the actual movers) I was able to get straight and direct answers. So I repeat DO NOT GO TO EXPRESS MOVING CONSULTANTS OR ANY OTHER COMPANY LIKE IT. Y’all are a trash company!!!!

Official company response

Interesting review Ms. Moss. Allow us to explain what entirely happened with your move:

Michelle was picked up June 5th, 2021 and was moving from Virginia to Houston Texas. Michelle was not able to accept delivery immediately and required storage until her new apartment was ready to move in. Michelle did not complete a follow up review with our team of her inventory ahead of pick up, which resulted in the additional charges for additional items and space, along with special packing services she requested that amounted to $400. There was no argument about this and she understood the charges, signed and agreed to them. This would have been the same if she completed the follow up review with our team before moving day. After pick up she was taken to storage at the main warehouse in New Jersey (not sure where she got the whole "they don't know where my stuff is" because this is exactly what we told her.)

After pick up, we did not hear from Ms. Moss at all until July 1st. On this day, she called in to customer service asking what time the driver would be at her apartment in Houston! We informed her that we'd look into it for her and asked if she'd informed the warehouse of her expected move in date - Obviously she hadn't told our office since she hadn't contacted us since the day of pick up, and no new information regarding her housing situation had been relayed to us whatsoever.

When we looked into her delivery, we discovered that she had not contacted anyone at all in our office, or the warehouse, to let us know that she had a move in date and place secured for delivery. We called her back and let her know that she needed to complete a delivery form in order for us to ship the goods to Houston. She understood this and received the delivery form that same day.

As many of you know, the United States is facing an unprecedented driver shortage in the trucking industry, this does not only apply to freight, but to all logistics industries including household goods transportation. This means all protocols must be followed by the trucking companies and shippers, in order to avoid unnecessary delays, including properly filing paperwork required for the shipment.

In fact, the entire conversation on July 7th, between Ms. Moss & Cameron (whom she claims “doesn’t know anything”), referenced in this review, was regarding this! At the end of that phone call, the owner of our company, actually refunded Ms. Moss for the inconvenience she was experiencing, despite the fact that in reality the inconvenience was being caused by her own procrastination on completing a delivery form, which is part of her federal shipping documents known as a “Bill of Lading”. It was the least he could do considering the deposit was so small (~$500) and figured this may help her relax a little. Here’s the note from our system about this conversation:

07/07/2021
ADMIN
Cameron gave Michelle a refund for the delivery inconvenience/mix up. Very nice girl. Used to work in logistics before she moved so she said she understands and got a call from the warehouse shortly before Cameron called her to give a refund and apologize. Happy customer now.

Fast forward to July 15th, yes two weeks after the initial delivery inquiry and the same day this review was received, we finally receive the delivery form that Ms. Moss has already been told needs to be completed in order for us to ship the goods. So this leads us to wonder why she ever claimed her delivery was two weeks late, when she hadn’t even completed the delivery form - The only reason we can come up with is that this review, along with the other threats included in it, was written and intended to apply a maximum pressure campaign on us over something we’d been trying to arrange for two weeks without much cooperation from the other party.

Considering that Ms. Moss worked for a large international freight company, you’d presume that she’d fill out the form immediately so as to avoid any further delays on her delivery, especially considering her conversation with the owner of our company about these issues, but that simply wasn’t the case. Ms. Moss seemingly wanted to victimize herself, even with all of her industry knowledge at her disposal, to what end, we still don’t know. At the end of the day, however, Ms. Moss did receive her delivery without any other complications such as damages, missing items, or insurance claims needing to be filed, and was also compensated further by Radius for delayed delivery pursuant to the FMCSA’s per diem guidelines as such.

Of course all of this could have been avoided starting with an open line of communication from Ms. Moss regarding the procurement of her apartment and move in date, etc. If your goods are in storage we are awaiting confirmation that you, the shipper, are ready to arrange delivery, including completing any paperwork necessary to legally ship your goods, in this case one page of a federal shipping document.

We hope this sheds light on the “specifics” Ms. Moss claims are pertinent for a “real” review, of which hers is lacking any true “specifics” at all. When we first received this review, we actually thought it may be a competing company who lost this move to us that wrote it simply using her name, because it was lacking in so many specifics regarding the move, particularly the positive things done by our company to attempt to help and make her feel better, while being nothing more than personally defamatory and belligerent sounding. We’ve decided that’s probably not the case though, and even if it were we have the details down fairly well to be able to reply and give an actual note based account of what happened with this move.

At the end of the day we’re happy Ms. Moss received her goods in Houston and that there were no further issues with her shipment. We hope that you enjoy Houston and live out your dreams! You go girl!

Don’t hire this company

‼️Don’t hire this company ‼️

They give less estimate for taking the contract. Then another company ❗️Radius ❗️will come and they double up the charges.

After that your belongings will not be delivered. You will keep on calling and mailing but all in vain.

This all has happened with us

Both ‼️Express and Radius ‼️have stolen our stuff. We are in a miserable position because of them. These both companies are “Thugs of America”.

To put this simply: Mr. Garg posted this review the day AFTER he received his delivery. The owner of our company sent him a text message about this to which he literally replied that if we gave him X amount of money, he would remove the review and write us a glowing one instead. We don't negotiate with reputation extortionists (similar to hostage takers or terrorists) and declined this venture. Shame on Mr. Garg for doing such a thing. If anyone would like the screenshots we'll happily provide them upon request, truly ridiculous and brazen. RUN THE OTHER WAY!

This company is a joke. They LIE, they don’t show up on time and don’t deliver your stuff in a timely manner. They quote you a low price just to get you to sign with them and put down a non-refundable deposit then show up to get your stuff and the price DOUBLES. They are dishonest, disgusting thieves. You get tossed around from person to person and they all tell you different things. It takes days to get in touch with them as they ignore your calls and emails. They tell you what you want to hear just to appease then stab you in the back by charging more on pickup. PATRICK is the RUDEST person and so inconsiderate and unprofessional. He thrives on screwing innocent people with the old bait and switch scam. He SCREAMS and CURSES at you when you get upset and don’t agree. What kind of businessman does this? If you’re reading this - RUN THE OTHER WAY!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3900

Official company response

For anyone reading this review:

The Scalleat's cost only increased $400 due to inventory additions made ahead of moving day that were electronically signed and agreed to before any truck or workers arrived at their home, which we hardly call a "bait and switch". Up until this review was posted it was our understanding that Mr. and Mrs. Scalleat were very happy with the service they received. Patrick also only interacted with this customer and his wife once and none of what is claimed in this review is able to be verified whatsoever. In fact, this review is SO backwards, that we're just including an entire email thread with first names redacted between us after delivery was completed, which doesn't indicate anything this review does. It actually indicates the exact opposite and was the last time they spoke with us.

Everything else is purely defamatory and false and sounds a little intoxicatedly unhinged in our opinion. Keyword: Intoxicated.

Here is the final communication we had with this customer via email as promised, we're sure you'll understand our confusion after reading it all. We can happily share this unredacted for anyone to verify it's contents as necessary upon request:

Just wanted to let u know that the guys last nite were great. They were really late but it’s understandable. After a long hot day they should have been grumpy but they were very sweet. Eddie was funny:) They worked their butts off.

Some of that extra work could have been avoided by packing the truck correctly. I felt bad for them as they had to unload someone else’s stuff to get mine then repack it all. That is poor organization. I wish I could have given them more of a tip b/c they deserved it!

As for my bill I was expecting the $100 credit you said you would apply for being late on pickup. Also, credit for being 2 days($50) late on delivery. Let me know how this will be handled.

Again, thank u for the open communication and all your effort to get everyone’s stuff delivered. I hope u get all caught up and recover from the flooding. I look forward to hearing from u soon:)

So there you have it folks - Sounds like really terrible service and a total bait and switch, right? Or does it sound like this review is a bit intoxicatedly unhinged now? Don't worry, we know the answer.

Keep in mind that these emails were likely sent at the SAME TIME this review was written, considering this website doesn't instantly publish reviews. Talk about a bait and switch of personality!

The owner of our company attempted to reach out to Mr. & Mrs. Scalleat personally upon receiving this review Monday September 13th, perplexed after the above email correspondence, and was met again with bizarre behavior via text accusing him of possibly being FOUR DIFFERENT individuals from our office, literally. In any event, we hope that when Sam & Janine leave Florida they'll live up to their end of the bargain and contact us again as stated in the last email from the 11th. It would truly be our pleasure to help and we can look past silly reviews - We forgive people and love our customers!

Long-distance move from Windham, NH to Grapevine, TX

Move that Never Happened - No Refund

I contracted Express Moving Consultants to make my move from NH to Texas for July 18th and July 19th. They never showed up. It was critical that I move out of my place on July 19th, since the walk through was on the 20th and closing on the 21st. They call back and wanted to discuss a future moving date. Up till July 19th evening, they kept texting and calling me saying the moving truck is on its way. At 8:00 PM on July 19th, they stop answering calls. I called the driver of the moving truck (provided by Express Moving Consultants) and he never returned my call. Finally, at 11:00 PM on July 19th, he calls me and asks who I was. I told him there is a move scheduled for me for today. He said, he has no intention of coming to NH, he was doing a move in Boston, MA that day. I asked him if he will be here on July 20th, he said no. He just told me to call back Express Moving Consultants and they will dispatch.

Express Moving Consultants are consultants and do not have their own movers or trucks. They use a company called RADIUS. After this incident, I called up Express Moving Consultants and asked them for a deposit refund. They refused to give the refund back, it was for $2,016. They claimed the reason the move did not happen is because it was cancelled. They did not show up on the day and had no plans of showing up.

Plus, on July 19th at around 7:00 PM, I got a call from [NAME EDIT]. [NAME EDIT] is the president of Express Moving Consultants. He accuses me of lying to him, he said the movers on the drive way. I wanted to video call him and show him my drive way and he hangs up the call. I called him back and no response.

The next day on the 20th, [NAME EDIT] ([NAME EDIT]'s) brother calls me. I asked who [NAME EDIT] is. He says that is his brother and owner of the company. I ask [NAME EDIT], Why was [NAME EDIT] accusing me. [NAME EDIT] says that [NAME EDIT] did not have a GPS. Plus, Express Moving Consultants was moving another Indian family from NH and he confused you with them.

Lesson learned when working with Express Moving Consultants - You will not get your deposit back if they cancel and do not show up. Up till the move date and time, [NAME EDIT], [NAME EDIT] and [NAME EDIT] are very courteous and responsive. They will stop responding, in my case they stopped responding on July 19th 7:30 PM. I called [NAME EDIT] and asked for a refund. He told me to put down in words that the move is cancelled. Be careful here because they are waiting for you to say the move is cancelled by you, not because of Express Moving Consultants.

It was a terrible experience. If you are considering them, I warn you to do your research and figure out a way not to give them a deposit until they show up. You will not get your deposit back if they do not show, they walk away with it.

For the record, Express Moving Consultants signed an agreement to move on July 19th. There are three text messages on July 19th informing me that the movers are on their way from [NAME EDIT], [NAME EDIT] and [NAME EDIT].

The move got complex since Express Moving Consultants did not show up. No further response is required from Express Moving Consultants. Thank You for letting me share my experience.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $10500

Official company response

While we typically don't respond to reviews, negative or positive, we felt that this one needed a response as the claims made are highly misconstrued and/or false and meant to be defamatory.

The reason this move didn't happen is because Mr. Kuchipudi told us, in writing, that there were complications with the closing of the house and that they would need to change the closing date and would let us know when they were ready again for pick up.

This was the same day he claims to have requested a refund, but this is false and he knows it. He requested a refund on July 30th, via email to our general mailbox - AFTER he'd hired other movers to do the job, despite telling our staff that the pick up dates would need to be changed on July 20th, because the closing date for the house he was selling was changing.

This was Mr. Kuchipudi's initial step to commit chargeback fraud and preclude his involvement with our agreement, by hiring other movers to complete the job in order to make us look negligent, unwilling, or unable to complete the order. It was July 30th that he was instructed to email to cancel/request a refund, after contacting our office to let us know he'd hired other movers rather than telling us the new pick up date so we could redispatch our direct partner carrier (who we do all of our business with) to pick up the belongings based on the new closing date.

Mr. Kuchipudi’s closing statements about us waiting for him or any customer to say the move was cancelled by them and not us is proof that everything we suspected about his behavior leading up to his, yes his, cancellation was 100% correct. It was a well thought out attempt at fraud and his bank agreed with our position and explanation of this and reversed the dispute.

There was no refund because the customer was deliberately undermining the agreement that he'd entered into with us, while failing to live up to his end of the agreement by letting us know the new closing date and requested pick up date, hiring other movers and notifying us after all of this was complete on July 30th and demanding a refund, resulting in a cancellation of service on his part, regardless of whether he'd written an email specifically stating this or not.

We would have been happy to complete the move and hope everything turned out well for Mr. Kuchipudi in Texas. Unfortunately he did not allow us to do this and sought to defraud our company instead, which failed and led to this review being written, likely as a form of reputation extortion in hopes that we will now refund him to take down this review - He’s even started a BBB complaint now, solidifying this notion for us and our position.

It’s sad that this behavior has become commonplace in the western world and speaks much about the spiritual condition surrounding us. We wish the best for the Kuchipudis on their western adventure in life and hope all is well in Texas!

Long-distance move from Abington, MA to Kaysville, UT

Very Poor Company - Stay Away

This company was horrible to work with, and one star is too many. Communication pre-move was poor, and quoting was worse. The first consultant quoted $19k for the move, but when I said I wanted to shop around, they reduced to $15k. That consultant quit, and another worked to verify everything closer to the move, after several emails seeking confirmation. That consultant said they knew exactly how much space was needed when I verbally described the furnishings and belongings to be moved. He suggested it was significantly less than what was originally quoted. This concerned me so I asked multiple times to do a FaceTime/video walk through to ensure that the number was correct and this was refused, indicating that video would make it harder. They were very wrong, and the volume was roughly double the final estimate. Further, they hired the absolute worst movers in the world. They were supposed to show up “early”, but didn’t come until 1pm. They trashed the house, trashed the belongings, and somehow “lost” two desks, five kitchen table chairs, a massive snow blower, and a few other belongings. The movers destroyed or significantly damaged several other pieces of furniture. We were originally quoted a kitchen pack to be included, but they only packed a few of the dishes. I had to scramble to pack what I could, and the movers refused to pack and transport hundreds of dollars of unopened and non-perishable food. I have tried to contact Express Moving Consultants to help us hold the movers accountable, and they have ignored us for several weeks. We are now pursing legal action.
